"When [God] talks of their losing their selves, He means only abandoning the clamour of self-will; once they have done that, He really gives them back all their personality, and boasts (I am afraid, sincerely) that when they are wholly His they will be more themselves than ever." -Screwtape letters by C. S. Lewis
Dear RiverStone,
This year has been immensely special, especially in our Sunday gatherings, for the ways that we sense the Presence of God in unity and that we love one another by His abounding grace. When I look across the room, I see faith bursting and resounding out into the darkness: taste and see that the Lord is good! Our praises clear the fog of uncertainty around us and enthrone the mystery of the Gospel, Jesus Christ, above all.
As we have talked at length about prayer and walking with Jesus, I've seen you respond to the call to come and die. You continue to yield to the hand of the Father like clay to the Potter. What gentle and capable Hands we are in. In losing your life, surely you will find it.
I write to encourage you again that our God is generous and good; He is generously good. I implore you again to love the Lord with your all and to love your neighbor as yourself. I remind you again that through His work and will, you are being made whole.
Today is the day to deny yourself. Today is the day to take up your cross. Today is the day to follow Christ. Rise again from the grave of your flesh and live in the Spirit of joy; He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. You are His temple and He is your Foundation. You are His peacemaker and He is your Refuge. You are His servant and He is your Lord. You are His creation and He is your God. Go forth in His grace and power this day.
Blessings in abundance,
Pastor Savannah
